| 1964 |
Five families gather in a church basement to help their disabled members become more independent and self confident. 250+- ROI participants are at work in two production sites and the Supported Employment Program. |
| 1978 |
ROI buys the first van to provide transportation for clients. The transportation program has a fleet of 26 vehicles and racks up a half-million miles a year. |
| 1983 |
ROI acquires a gluing machine, saddle stitcher drill, shrink tunnel L-Bar, and shrink-wrapping machine. ROI is well equipped with electronic weight scales, pallet jacks, postage meter-sealing machines, Cheshire labeling machines, an electric powered forklift. |
| 1991 |
ROI initiates the Supported Employment Program – finding employment for disabled persons in the community labor force, with ROI Job Coaches providing training and personal support as necessary. Up to 60 individuals participate in the Supported Employment Program. |
| 1993 |
ROI purchases and occupies the corporate office and production site in Lanham. |
| 1996 |
ROI opens a second facility in Gaithersburg. |
| 1999 |
ROI starts the Family Links Program to provide support for families and caregivers by developing information and referral services and promoting self-advocacy. With a mailing list of more than 500, FLP is a major networking resource for families and other agencies providing services for disabled persons. |
| 2000 |
ROI moves to Germantown. |
